Understanding Multiplexers and Their Functionality

A multiplexer, often referred to as a MUX, is an essential digital device used to manage and streamline data transmission. Its primary function is to select one input from multiple data inputs and forward it to a single output line. This selection is controlled by additional inputs known as select lines, which determine which data input is routed to the output at any given time. Multiplexers are widely used in communication systems, computer memory management, and signal processing, as they efficiently optimize the use of resources by reducing the number of required data paths.
